Halo Infinite - AAGun

I had the pleasure to be tasked with the art ownership and development of the Banished AAGun from beginning to end. My process started with designing the high-fidelity proxy models based on concept art from Martin Deschambault and implementing my own design in areas where concept wasn’t provided. It was critical to quickly complete the proxy first to unblock down-streaming teams including world builders and designers so they could start using the AAGun asset and focus on design mission development as soon as possible.

The AAGun consists of the exterior, interior, main body, legs, the large turret, and the destroyed version of the large turret. In addition, I designed the destroyed state, created the joint skeleton, and animated the initial proxy animation for the explosion collapse before sending it to Ambika Luthra from the sandbox animation team for final animation and polish. As soon as I got sign off on all the proxy models, I remodeled all the art to final in-game quality and gameplay metrics, UV projected all assets to texel density, trim mapping/texturing, bullet and player collision, and with the help of Jihoon Kim and Julian Yiph, we hand authored LODs for the interior and exterior assets as well as the destroyed model. Final Shadow meshes were done by Jae Lake.

-Thank you to Matt Cerasoli and Kim Kirchstein from the surfacing team for adding wear and tear, rust, and grime to the pristine and destroyed models to help it feel grounded in the environment.
-Thank you to Ambika Luthra for her amazing animation.
-Thank you to Xiaoya Zhao and our amazing lighting team for their excellent lighting inside and outside of the AAGun.
-Special thanks to the FX and narrative team for their hard work making the AAGun come alive in campaign and multiplayer.
-Special-special thanks to Turner Sinopoli for creating the rig, scripting, and implementing the AAGun into an interactable in game dynamic asset.
